How to pack your cards.

Shipping cards safely comes down to two rules: eliminate movement by packing tightly and fully insure your shipment.

If you shake the box and can't hear anything move, it's ready. You must include your Submission ID on the shipping label (e.g., ATTN: 3C5-6D20) so we can match the package to your account.

Concierge Service.

If your collection is worth over $20,000, a concierge service is available. Please reach out to our founder aaron@mulliganpost.com with your preferred availability to discuss next steps.

Under 15 Cards & Under $50.

Using a folded or sliced binder page in a Plain White Envelope has a 1% chance of loss due to damage or USPS shenanigans but is cost-effective. You can cut up a Cereal box for extra protection or return our insert if you have made a PWE purchase from us previously. Alternatively, a few sheets of printer paper folded around the cards can offer additional peace of mind. If your letter is over 1oz (approx 5 cards) you may need one or more "additional ounce" stamps. They are available at the self-serve kiosk in your local post office (which also conveniently has a scale.)

Small Batches or a Deck.

A rigid case (like a Boulder deck box) packed full and placed inside a bubble mailer is a safe and convenient method for shipping ~100 cards for around $6 shipping + 1% of value for insurance using a discount broker like Pirate Ship. You can get a single bubble mailer from Target for about a dollar or they are available at most shipping retail stores. If you have made a purchase with tracked shipping from us, our hard case and foam insert are designed to be re-usable!

Larger Volumes.

Three 1,000-count BCW TCG boxes fit snugly into a USPS Medium Flat Rate box, available for free from your local Post Office. Using Pirate Ship can bring your total shipped and insured cost to under 2¢ per card.

Very Large Collections.

Ensure each box weighs under 50 pounds (around 12,000 cards) to avoid excessive weight surcharges and to reduce the chances of your box breaking.

For extremely large collections, we can accept palletized freight shipments. Reach out so we can coordinate the details and make sure everything arrives safely.

Things That Will Damage Your Cards.

A short list of mistakes that show up in damaged shipments more than any others.

  • Loose space in the box. Empty room is the single biggest cause of in-transit damage. Fill every gap.
  • Rubber bands directly on cards. They bend and distort cards. You can use rubberbands to organize stacks of toploaders.
  • Three-ring binders. The rings themselves have damaged cards in-transit. Soft-bound binders and sheets out of binders are fine if they are packed securely. Note that cards in binders will utilize our de-sleeving service at 20 cents per card.
  • Tape on cards or sealed product. Tape pulls finish, ink, and cellophane when removed.
